Saor announce first North American tour with Wayfarer; new LP ft. Neige out now
Scottish folk/black metallers Saor released their fourth album Forgotten Paths this past February, and now they’ve announced their first-ever US/Canada tour, surrounding their previously announced appearance at Jackson, WY’s Fire In The Mountains festival. Most dates on the tour are with Denver’s Wayfarer, who are still riding high off the release of their great third album (and Profound Lore debut), 2018’s World’s Blood. As mentioned, Wayfarer are also on part of the Inter Arma tour.
Saor and Wayfarer will land in Brooklyn on July 20 at Saint Vitus, and that show has one more band TBA (tickets). All dates are listed below.
If you haven’t heard heard Soar’s Forgotten Paths yet, that’s very much worth changing and you can stream it below. The title track features guest vocals by Alcest leader Neige, and Alcest fans will almost definitely like this album, which nails an expert balance between folk textures and melody and black metal fury.
If you haven’t heard Wayfarer’s World’s Blood, you can stream that below too. It was produced by Colin Marston, and it’s a killer mix of black metal and post-rock, with a little folky influence of its own on album closer “A Nation of Immigrants.” And while the album has no shortage of blastbeats, drummer Isaac Faulk (also of Blood Incantation) does a great job of changing it up and working in tribal-y toms that do a lot for Wayfarer’s adventurous take on black metal.
