Sarah Jarosz

Sarah Jarosz releasing 'Undercurrent,' touring (stream "Take Another Turn")

Last year, Sarah Jarosz focused on her super-trio I’m With Her (with Sara Watkins and Aiofe O’Donovan), and this year she’s releasing a new solo album, Undercurrent, on June 17 via Sugar Hill Records (pre-order). We’re premiering that album’s latest single, “Take Another Turn,” which is a delicate, folky song with no more than Sarah’s voice and acoustic guitar. It’s really nice sounding, as you can hear for yourself below.

As mentioned, Sarah is also touring and hitting NYC on June 27 at Bowery Ballroom with The Brother Brothers. Tickets for that show are still available. All tour dates here.

Talking about the new song, Sarah says:

“Take Another Turn” started, as most of the songs on my new record did, while sitting alone in my apartment NY. I was wandering around on the guitar and basically asking myself questions about life. For a while, I tried to answer those questions. But I couldn’t finish the song that way. I started thinking about all the different ways you can answer a single question, and in the end, didn’t feel the need to try to answer, but rather ponder the questions themselves, the possible answers, and leave the rest up to the listener. What does it mean to be lost/lonely/sorry/hungry? Perhaps life’s questions will never be answered, but my guess is that we’ll all keep trying to figure it out in the meantime.
