SAVAK share "Drop the Pieces," playing 'Burn to Shine 6' screening in NYC with Algiers ++ other dates

SAVAK

SAVAK, which features members of Obits, Holy Fuck and Nation of Ulysses, have shared new single “Drop the Pieces” from their forthcoming debut album Best of Luck in Future Endeavors. Spiky with some nice textural saxophone, this shows a different side of SAVAK than we’ve heard so far. Listen to that and first single “Reaction” below.

As mentioned SAVAK will perform at Le Poisson Rouge on Wednesday, April 13 as part of the screening of documentary Burn to Shine 6: Atlanta. Algiers will perform as well and tickets are still available.

The film is the sixth, much-delayed installment in Brendan Canty (Fugazi and whose brother, James, is in SAVAK) and Christoph Green‘s film series where bands, all from the same city, play a house that is about to be demolished. This installment was curated by Lee Tesche of Algiers and was shot “on a brutally humid southern day in the summer of 2007 in a blank single-family home in a rapidly changing part of East Atlanta” and features performances by Mastodon, Deerhunter, The Black Lips, The Coathangers, The Mighty Hannibal and others. You can watch a trailer for the film, which is also screening at Coachella and other places, below.

SAVAK will also open for Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds at The Bell House on May 11 (tickets), and will then play a Best of Luck in Future Endeavors release show which happens at Shea Stadium on May 27 with Sunwolf (ft. Jerry Busher of late-period Fugazi/French Toast), Super Silver Haze (ft. Brendan Canty), and Puff Pieces. Tickets are on sale.

Members of SAVAK will also help out with Lake Ruth‘s first-ever live performance, which happens as part of NYC Popfest on May 22 at Littlefield with The Chills, The Railway Children and more (sold out).
