For bands, The Savannah Stopover is a way to ease into the festival insanity that they'll soon experience at SXSW, and for audiences it's a chance to catch a lot of bands who are on their way Austin, but see them in a much more laid back atmosphere (and playing longer sets). Having the fest in Savannah's downtown district, where you can drink on the street and take your beverage with you from venue to venue, is a nice bonus. The 2018 edition of Savannah Stopover happened March 8-10 and showcased 80-some bands, including of Montreal, Becca Mancari, Bat Fangs, Gus Daperton, Shopping, Frigs, Ratboys, Vundabar, the Pylon Reenactment Society (led by Vanessa Briscoe Hay of Athens, GA postpunk legends Pylon), Nikki Lane, Public Access TV, and more. Check out pics from the fest in the gallery above.

Becca Mancari, Shopping, Bat Fangs, Ratboys, and Gus Daperton all play Lost Weekend 2 -- BrooklynVegan & Margin Walker's free, all-ages SXSW day parties -- and Vundabar play the BV/Dine Alone/Buzz Official SXSW showcase at Swan Dive on Wednesday, March 14 with Say Anything, Trail of Dead and more.
