Scarface

Scarface talks continued coronavirus battle & dialysis: "I was inches away from death"

Last month, Scarface did an interview with his Geto Boys bandmate Willie D where he said he’d tested positive for COVID-19. “This whole three weeks has been an ordeal,” he said at the time. “It’s the craziest I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ve been to the point where I felt like I was gonna die.” He returned to Willie’s YouTube channel recently to give an update on his condition; “I’m glad to be alive,” he said, explaining that he’d relapsed and returned to the hospital after his previous conversation with Willie.

“I fought COVID, double bilateral pneumonia — both lungs — and kidney failure in my house,” Scarface said. “I went back to the hospital. I just got out of the hospital [on April 20].” Indicating his dialysis port, he said, “that’s my new lifeline, I gotta change my entire diet, I gotta do dialysis four days a week, three hours a day. That’s taking all my blood out, cleaning it and putting it back in my body.” He’d never had kidney problems before, he said.

Scarface said he’d lost around 30 pounds throughout the ordeal, saying, “I couldn’t keep food down, I couldn’t get comfortable, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t stay woke, I could not breathe. It was the worst time of my life.”

“Hanging on that string of death makes you really appreciate life,” Scarface continued. “I was inches away from death.”

Scary stuff, and we’re glad to hear Scarface is starting to feel better. Watch the whole interview below.
