Self Defense Family will begin their co-headlining tour with Sannhet next month, including the NYC show with Cloakroom and Weeping Icon at Brooklyn Bazaar on 5/31 (tickets). Ahead of that tour, Self Defense Family have announced a new album.

The album is called Have You Considered Punk Music, and it comes out on June 29 via Run For Cover (their first LP for the label). The title track is out now, which is mostly "punk music" in spirit. In sound, it's part post-rock, part spoken word (fans of anything from Slint to The Van Pelt to mewithoutYou should take note). The song has a video with lyrics on screen, and vocalist Patrick Kindlon and guitarist Andrew Duggan also released a 16-minute podcast where they discuss the song. Check out both of those things, along with the artwork and tracklist, below.

Related: Patrick Kindlon is not just a very prolific musician but also one half of the comics team Ashcan Press with Matthew Rosenberg. Matthew is also one of the current Archie creators, and we posted a rundown of Archie's many references to punk and indie rock bands earlier this week.
