Sharon Van Etten has announced a new album, We've Been Going About This All Wrong, due out May 6 via Jagjaguwar (pre-order on marbled smoke vinyl). It's her sixth studio LP, and the follow-up to 2019's amazing Remind Me Tomorrow. She co-produced it with Daniel Knowles, and her regular touring band -- Jorge Balbi (drums), Devon Hoff (bass), and Charley Damski (synthesizers and guitars) -- plays on it, too. You can see the cover art and tracklist below.

Sharon has shared a couple of singles recently, "Used To It" and "Porta," but neither of those are on the new album, and she won't be releasing any individual songs in advance. Instead, she says, "I wanted to approach this release differently, to engage my fans in an intentional way, in an effort to present the album as a whole body of work. These ten songs are designed to be listened to in order, at once, so that a much larger story of hope, loss, longing and resilience can be told."

She has shared a trailer for the album, which features tons of photos and video clips from her life set to swelling, cinematic music. It really gives the project an epic feel and it has our hopes for it extremely high!

As mentioned, Sharon is touring in North America with Angel Olsen and Julien Baker this summer, including NYC dates at SummerStage in Central Park on August 20 and 21. She also has shows with Mia Joy, The National, The Weather Station, and L'Rain scheduled. See all of her upcoming dates below.
