Sharon Van Etten, David Cross & Oneida joined Yo La Tengo for Hanukkah Night 6 (video, setlist)

Yo La Tengo have had a great Hanukkah so far this week at Bowery Ballroom, Friday’s Night 6 being no different. Old pals Oneida (with drummer Kid Millions back in action after being involved in a car crash early this year) were the opening band and also joined Ira, Georgia and James for their entire set, which was one of the noiser of the week so far. David Cross, another old friend, was the night’s comedian who came out as Rabbi Alan Sugarman for a segment called “As the Rabbi,” and he also joined YLT as first guest of the encore, coming out to cover Lulu’s “To Sir with Love.”

The encore then turned into a Ramones tribute with “Swallow My Pride,” followed by “Pet Sematary” with Clay Pigeon, and then they brought out Sharon Van Etten to sing “Don’t Come Close.” Sharon stuck around for the rest of the encore, performing her own “One Day” (from Epic) and they closed with a cover of Fred Neil’s “Dolphins.” You can watch video of all three of Sharon’s songs below.

Ira made the night’s mix CD and proceeds from the whole night went to Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice. Check out recaps of Yo La Tengo Hanukkah Night 1, Night 2, Night 3, Night 4, and Night 5. Check out Night 6 setlist, via Jesse Jarnow, and Instagram pics and video, below.
