Sharon Van Etten working on album, playing new songs at LA show

We’ve been eagerly anticipating a followup to Sharon Van Etten‘s 2014 album, Are We There, which Sharon said in a 2017 interview that she was heading into the studio to work on. She seems to be making progress; she just announced a one-off show in LA, where she promised to play some new music. “It’s been a while and I am little nervous,” Sharon said on Twitter, “but I am finally ready to test out some new songs. So why not play a show for friends in LA while I’m out here working?” Sharon plays LA’s Moroccan Lounge on March 3, and tickets are on sale.

Sharon has been very busy in the time between albums — she tried out acting with a role on The OA, performed at The Bang Bang Bar on an episode of Twin Peaks: The Return, and lent vocals to music from Lee Ranaldo, Land of Talk, Hercules + Love Affair, Michael Cera, and Lost Horizons. She also scored her first film, Strange Weather, rereleased her 2009 debut, Because I Was in Love, AND became a mother! Watch the video for Are We There track “Your Love Is Killing Me” below.
