Shilpa Ray, "secret toy surprise", A Place to Bury Strangers, Suckers, Patterson Hood & other tickets

APTBS @ Coachella 2009 (more by Darren Kim)
A Place to Bury Strangers

“[A Place to Bury Strangers] opened with a sonic beat down, heavy guitar with effects unlike anything I have ever heard before; like My Bloody Valentine except with a drummer from Deerhunter. The drums were infectious, rolling into one another with blissful osculations of the cymbals being smashed. Playing behind the band were videos of 16 seconds loops of something from a snuff video. Notably a shot of pale woman with black lingerie and a hand (maybe her own) rubbing the outside of her thighs. The moments that transpired have been what I see when I blink from that day to this. It was psychedelic drums, with My Bloody Valentine layered guitars, and vocals of Joy Division.” [Truer Sources of Sound]
