Sick Gazelle is a new band with some familiar faces: Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, experimental saxophonist Bruce Lamont (of Yakuza, Bloodiest, Corrections House, and more), and ambient musician Eric Block (aka Veloce). Their debut album, Odum, consists of four tracks recorded live in studio during an improvised jam session, and as lead single/opening track "Atlantic" proves, some real magic came out of that jam session. The song falls somewhere between avant-garde jazz and Eno-esque ambience, and it's the kind of lingering slow-burner that really creeps up on you. Listen below, and if you like what you hear, pre-order the album which drops May 3 via War Crime Recordings.
