Sigur Ros contributing to Norwegian black metal film starring Sky Ferreira

Lords of Chaos

Sigur Ros, who are noted metalheads and who atmospheric metal bands often cite as an influence, have provided music for a new film about Norwegian black metal. It’s called Lords of Chaos and is based on the 1998 book of the same name by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind, and it was directed by famed music video/concert film director Jonas Åkerlund (he also directed Spun). According to Deadline, the film “follows young Norwegian band Mayhem that popularized a form of heavy metal music known as ‘True Norwegian Black Metal,’ with a flair for publicity, church-burning and even murder.”

Sky Ferreira is among the actors/actresses in the film, along with Rory Culkin (Macaulay’s brother), Emory Cohen, and Jack Kilmer. The film is being produced by Vice Films, Insurgent Media, and Chimney Pot, and 20th Century Fox is involved too.
