Canadian punks Single Mothers recently released the standalone single "Switch Off," which came just about a year after their last album (and just a few months after main member Drew Thomson's solo EP), and it was the closest to breakneck-speed '80s hardcore that Single Mothers have ever come. It turns out that song is off a surprise new album, Through A Wall, that's out now via Dine Alone/Big Scary Monsters, and much of the rest of the album follows suit. A handful of these 14 songs clock in at around a minute and a half, and they're shorter, faster, and louder than Single Mothers have been since their early EPs... or ever.

Drew recorded this album with producer/percussionist Ian Romano and "a rotating cast of musicians," and regarding the lyrical content, he says, "I tried to blend my sense of dark humour with the reality of what I see when I look around me." The album is accompanied by the video for the songs "Dog Parks" and "Switch Off." You can watch that and stream the whole LP below.

Single Mothers have also announced a tour, including a show at Brooklyn punk venue The Kingsland on November 9. Tickets will be on sale soon. All dates are listed below.
