Sinkane continues to stay very busy since releasing last year's great, funky Life & Livin' It (and an accompanying EP). We already mentioned that he's opening Son Lux's Brooklyn Steel show on March 22 (tickets), and the two acts since added several other dates together that month. Sinkane also has two other NYC appearances happening this week.

Tonight (1/5), he'll be in conversation and DJ at this week's edition of Because Jewish's Friday Night Jam. It takes place at Rockwood Music Hall (stage 3) and here's more details:

"The Friday Night Jam" is a new speaking series focused on the intersection of music, spirituality and culture. Hosted by Relix Editor-in-Chief Mike Greenhaus and Because Jewish's Rabbi Dan Ain, our next installment will feature Sudanese-American musician Sinkane. In addition to his own blend of indie-rock, world music, funk and Kraut, Sinkane has worked with the likes of David Byrne, Yeasayer and Damon Albarn. Sinkane will sit for a lively interfaith conversation with Dan and Mike and offer a special DJ mix of music that inspired his global sound.

Doors are at 6:30, the Friday ritual begins at 7, the conversation with Sinkane at 7:30, and Sinkane's DJ set at 8. Tickets are available.

Sinkane also plays the free "Neighborhood Concert" at Brooklyn Museum on Saturday (1/6). That starts at 5 PM. More info HERE.

In the summer, Sinkane plays both weekends of Electric Forest. Updated dates are listed, with the video for Life & Livin' It standout "U'Huh," below.
