Sleaford Mods share "B.H.S." from new LP (watch the video)

Sleaford Mods have shared new single “B.H.S.” from their upcoming album English Tapas. For those outside of the UK who don’t know what B.H.S. is (or was), here’s a little context via press release:

BHS (British Home Stores) was a chain of department stores in the UK controlled by Sir Philip Green, the chairman of Arcadia Group, which also owns Topshop, among others. The chain was shuttered in summer 2016, and 11,000 jobs were lost, as well as £571 million from the pension fund, leaving 22,000 former employees without retirement income. Having taken £400 million in dividends from the failed retailer, Green was sailing the Mediterranean on a newly-purchased super-yacht as the last stores closed.

Or, as Sleaford Mods frontman Jason Williamson puts it, “Buy a company, run it down, take the money, fuck the workers, it’s legal.” The video, directed by Simon Parfrement, is, like the song, is also set on a boat. Watch, and read the lyrics, below.

English Tapas is out March 3 via Rough Trade. Sleaford Mods will be here soon after, on their first North American tour, playing Brooklyn’s Warsaw on March 30. Tickets are still available.
