Sleater-Kinney began tour (sans Shamir) -- videos, setlist

Following an appearance at Hopscotch Festival where it was revealed that Sleater-Kinney‘s new drummer is Angie Boylan, S-K began their headlining tour at Spokane, WA’s Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox last night (10/9). Their 24-song, two-encore set included every song off their new album The Center Won’t Hold and the recently-released non-album track “Animal,” plus a few off their previous reunion album (2015’s No Cities to Love), and classics like “Jumpers,” “Modern Girl,” “Dig Me Out,” “Words and Guitar,” “Start Together,” “Oh!,” and more. Shamir was supposed to open part of the tour, including last night’s show, but he dropped off and wrote, “Unfortunately I wont be able to make the sleater Kenny tour, mental health not the best and wanted to take care of myself.” Olympia’s Squill opened last night’s show, and S-K wrote, “First show tonight! We’re stoked to kick it off in Spokane. Unfortunately, Shamir will no longer be joining us on tour, but we’re excited to have Squill opening tonight, so make sure to get here early. See you soon.”

Shamir was also supposed to open the NYC shows (Kings Theatre on 10/30 and Hammerstein Ballroom on 10/31), so stay tuned for a new opener for those shows and other dates. Tickets for the NYC shows are still available. Updated dates are listed below.
