Slow Mass

Slow Mass (mem Into It. Over It., My Dad) releasing debut EP & touring (stream 2 tracks)

In addition to currently playing together in Into It. Over It. and formerly in Former Thieves, drummer Josh Sparks (also ex-Damiera) and guitarist Josh Parks join forces in Slow Mass. The Chicago band is fronted by My Dad‘s Dave Collis, and also features Mercedes Webb on bass/vocals. They’ll release their debut EP Treasure Pains on September 9 via Landland (pre-order).

Earlier this year, they released the lead single “Dark Dark Energy” and we’re premiering another track, “Portals to Hell.” As you may guess from the lineup, it’s mathy post-hardcore (the Dischord kind, not the Kinsella kind) and these guys pull it off expertly. Especially with this kind of music, you’re only as good as your drummer, and Josh Sparks is one of the best in the game right now. Listen to both songs below.

Slow Mass also have dates coming up, including shows with Solids, Sneeze, Lithuania, Xerxes, Pygmy Lush, Greys, Two Inch Astronaut, and more. There’s a Brooklyn show on October 1 at Shea Stadium with Clique. All dates are listed below.
