Smidley (Foxing singer Conor Murphy) announces debut LP, shares "Fuck This"
Foxing singer Conor Murphy recently released his debut solo single as Smidley, “No One Likes You.” It’s a dose of poppy, energetic indie rock that’s a pretty far cry from Foxing but executed just as well as their stuff is. Conor has now announced that he’ll release a full album as Smidley. It’s self-titled and coming out June 2 via Triple Crown (the same label Foxing is on).
The album features contributions from Cameron Boucher (Sorority Noise), Eric Slick (Dr Dog, Lithuania), and Ben Walsh (Tigers Jaw), and it was produced by Hop Along’s Joe Reinhart. It includes “No One Likes You” and the just-released single “Fuck This,” which ups the aggression just a bit but is mostly in line with “No One Likes You.” It’s great stuff, and making it seem like Smidley is gonna tide us over pretty damn well while we await the new Foxing record. As mentioned, Smidley and indie folk band Saintseneca are both opening the upcoming Tigers Jaw tour. That tour hits Asbury Park on May 20 at The Stone Pony (tickets on sale 4/14 at 10 AM) and NYC on June 22 at Webster Hall (tickets on sale now). All dates are listed below.
