Smoking Popes

Smoking Popes' original lineup release first new music since 1998

’90s-era rockers Smoking Popes have been back in action and doing cool stuff for over a decade now, but it wasn’t until last year that drummer Mike Felumlee rejoined, making for a full reunion of the original lineup. The band has now put out a new two-song single, which are the first recordings by the original lineup since The Party’s Over (recorded in 1998, released in 2001). The new songs, “Simmer Down” and “Someday I’ll Smile Again,” sound like no time’s passed since the band’s classic era, and they also sound great today. A physical release is due in 2017 via Asian Man Records, and they have more music on the way. Meanwhile, stream these two tracks now.

The band is playing Riot Fest Chicago later this month. No other shows announced at the moment.
