Sonic Boom, aka ex Spacemen 3 co-founder Pete Kember, will release new album All Things Being Equal, on June 5 via Carpark. While he’s made many records over the last 30 years since he and Jason Pierce split up (including with Spectrum, Experimental Audio Research and more), this will be his first Sonic Boom album since 1990’s Spectrum. (He’s also been busy as a producer, having worked on MGMT’s Congratulations, Beach House’s 7, and a couple Panda Bear albums.)

Based out of Sintra, Portugal these days, Kember took eco-centric lyrical inspiration from his new home. Musically though, this is the drony, undulating and heavily psychedelic Sonic Boom you may know and love. “Certain instruments have something about their sound that touches me deeply,” says Kember as to the sounds on the album, “and I’m always trying to focus as much vibe as I can into the songs.” Check out first single “Just Imagine,” via it’s gorgeous and very trippy Nuno Jardim-directed video, below.
