Sonic Youth documentary 30 Years of Daydream Nation, directed by Lance Bangs, has been screening around the country since last fall, and there are a few more coming up in August, all of which feature post-screening Q&As with drummer Steve Shelley and SY archivist Aaron Mullan. At the Massachusetts screenings in Amherst (8/14) and Brookline (8/18) they'll be joined by writer Byron Coley; at the Richmond screening (8/15) they'll be joined by Tannis Root/Kung-Fu co-founder Bill Mooney; and at the DC screening (8/16), Brendan Canty (Fugazi/The Messthetics) will join them.

That same week, Rooftop Films is presenting Sonic Youth: NYC and Beyond on August 17 at Murmrr Theatre in Brooklyn. It features a New York-specific collection of films and videos from the band’s private archives, plus a Q&A with Shelley, Mullan and Lee Ranaldo. Tickets are still available.
