Usually, the only place to see Soul Asylum and Meat Puppets together was probably on that one episode of MTV Alternative Nation from 1993 where both "Runaway Train" and "Backwater" were both played. But these two bands will be on the road together for the "Fly Over Tour" which hits NYC on June 20 at Brooklyn Bowl. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (3/27) at 10 AM.

Though best known for ballad-y '90s singles, Soul Asylum were pretty fierce in the '80s, blending elements of Minneapolis' two most successful punks (Husker Du and The Replacements) and their older catalog (Hang Time and earlier) is well worth checking out. (Those '90s albums aren't bad either.) The band are currently working on a new album. The Meat Puppets, meanwhile, have perhaps stayed little more creatively active, having released a split and toured with Cass McCombs most recently.
