Soul Glo take on Bad Brains comparisons with new "Gold Chain Punk (whogonbeatmyass?)" video

Soul Glo‘s new album Diaspora Problems is one of the year’s best albums so far, and they’ve been putting out some of the year’s best music videos too, like the Whiplash-inspired video for “Jump!! (Or Get Jumped!!!)((by the future))” that came out back in January and the just-released video for the killer album opener “Gold Chain Punk (whogonbeatmyass?),” which pokes fun at people who blindly compare Soul Glo to Bad Brains.

“If you’re a Black person who is into any kind of hard rock, you’ve probably had a white person try to talk to you about Bad Brains,” vocalist Pierce Jordan says. “We are constantly compared to them. Apparently, I even look like HR. Can I fuckin live?” The video was directed by Dan White x $$$NICCA and you can check it out below.

Soul Glo also have tons of tour dates coming up, including Show Me The Body‘s In Broad Daylight mini-fest with ZelooperZ, Shawny Binladen, WiFiGawd, Militarie Gun, Lustsick Puppy, Posterboy 2000, Buggin, President Evil, Shawty, Symbiote, and I-So at Queens’ Knockdown Center on Sunday (7/10). The show starts at 2 PM, and tickets are still available.

Soul Glo also play the LA edition of In Broad Daylight a few days later, they’ve got a Raleigh show with My Chemical Romance and Turnstile, they’re doing a Europe/UK tour, and they’re playing Furnace Fest, Desert Daze, and Pickathon. All dates are listed below.
