Sound on Sound

Sound on Sound fest: full schedule, lineup changes, aftershows & more

The inaugural Sound on Sound (aka the new Fun Fun Fun fest), is coming up soon (November 4-6) just outside of Austin, TX and the festival has now released the full schedule. As always, there are some notable conflicts. You’ll have to deal with Beach Slang vs. clipping (vs the very beginning of Guided By Voices!), Touche Amore vs. Run the Jewels;, Kero Kero Bonito vs. a conversation with Pussy Riot, Descendents vs. Thundercat, Young Thug vs. Bob Mould vs White Lung, and many other such difficulties. You can check out the full schedule in the graphic below.

Meanwhile, there have been some lineup changes in the weeks leading up to this. Mac DeMarco unfortunately had to drop off due to a “family health issue,” and Charles Bradley was originally on the bill before he postponed dates due to his unfortunate cancer diagnosis. In their place you’ll get Deerhunter and Big Freedia, who add to a very stacked overall lineup.

Sound on Sound have also scheduled some shows around the main festival, with a few kickoff shows on November 3 and Late Knights shows at different Austin venues over the course of the weekend, all of which are free for pass holders. Those kickoff shows include Diet Cig and Guided By Voices at Mohawk, War on Women and American Sharks at Beerland, Shannon and the Clams and White Fang at Barracuda, and a bunch more.

As for the late shows over the weekend, those are split between Camping programming (located at the campground) and shows at venues like Mohawk, Barracuda, and Sidewinder. For the camping programming you get music and comedy from the likes of Todd Barry, Hinds, Psychic Twin, Bully, Tim Heidecker, Joe Mande and more. The Austin venue Late Knights bands include LVL Up, Angel Du$t, The Gotobeds and more TBA. You can check out the full schedule for the Late Knights program below.

There’s also the Come & Tyke it stage for kids, which also features some grown up acts (Thor & Friends, Jad Fair).

Check out the full schedule below.
