Spotlights covered Mew, playing NYC with The Life and Times this weekend
Brooklyn's Spotlights released their debut LP Tidals earlier this year, and it was good enough that the Deftones handpicked them to open part of the Gore tour. That's a great fit for Spotlights' heavy, atmospheric sound, as is Shiner offshoot The Life and Times, who Spotlights will open for this Friday (11/18) at Mercury Lounge. Tickets are available.
Spotlights will wrap up this successful year with a three-song EP called Spiders on December 9. It includes a reworking of an older song, a remix by former Isis member Aaron Harris, and a cover of Mew's "She Spider." As you may expect, Spotlights are a perfect band to put a heavy spin on a Mew song, and their take on "She Spider" is very worth hearing. It premieres right here:
