Spray Paint prep new LP, share first single, playing Monofonus RIP Weekend in Austin

Acerbic punks Spray Paint are back with a new album, Into the Country, which will be out October 25 via 12XU. The first single is “Cleaning Your Gun,” which is one of their most immediate songs ever, fully embracing mid-fi clarity and powered by an insistent beat that puts it somewhere between The Fall and Liars. You can listen to that below.

In other news, Monofonus Press, the record label founded by Morgan Coy that counts Spray Paint’s Cory Plump as an employee, is shutting down after 12 years. They’re throwing themselves a wake, in the form of the R.I.P Monofonus Press Weekend which will go down November 22 – 24 in Austin Texas at Hotel Vegas and the Monofonus Compound. In addition to Spray Paint, the weekend will feature pretty much every artist who ever released something on the label, including The Rebel, Brandy, Ghetto Ghouls, Sun Araw, Obnox, Beech Creeps, Yeah Yeah Yeahs drummer Brian Chase, and more. Check out the full lineup and schedule below.
