Boston singer and songwriter Ella Williams has been releasing music for a few years as Squirrel Flower, and she's announced her debut LP, I Was Born Swimming, due out January 31 via Polyvinyl and Full Time Hobby. She's also shared the first single from that LP, "Red Shoulder," which you can listen to below. It's a pensive indie rock track bolstered by a compelling guitar part, and about it, Ella says, "'Red Shoulder’ is a song about destabilisation and dissociation. Something soft and tender becomes warped and sinister, turning into sensory overload and confusion. How can something so lovely turn painful and claustrophobic? The song ends with a heavy and visceral guitar solo, attempting to reground what went awry."

Squirrel Flower is currently on tour supporting Victoria, BC's Loving, with dates in the Midwest and East Coast through the end of the month, wrapping up with a Brooklyn show at Baby's All Right on October 28. Tickets are still available.

In 2020, Squirrel Flower launches a headlining North American tour supporting her new album, with dates in Washington DC, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, and more. The Brooklyn date happens at Rough Trade on March 11 with Montreal's Cedric Noel opening. Tickets go on sale Friday, 10/25 at 10 AM. See all of Squirrel Flower's upcoming dates below.

Meanwhile, Loving are planning to release their debut full-length in 2020 on Last Gang Records, and two songs are out from it now. You can hear those below too.
