St. Vincent & Carrie Brownstein co-wrote concert tour film

St. Vincent is producing Sleater-Kinney’s upcoming album, which is due out later this year. According to Collider, she and Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein have another project in the works, too. They report that Annie Clark and Carrie have co-written a concert tour film that “follows heightened versions of themselves as they interact with assistants, bandmates, music journalists and, of course, fans.” It’s not intended to be a mockumentary, but a scripted film shot in a documentary style.

Portlandia director and editor Bill Benz is currently attached to the project, which is still untitled, as director, and Carrie had chosen Jett Steiger and Lana Kim of Ways & Means as producers. Topic Studios, which has been developing the film, warns that it won’t be released any time in the near future, but it’s definitely an exciting prospect.

Carrie previously scripted Annie’s lines in a series of faux “interview” clips released to Instagram in the lead-up to the release of MASSEDUCTION, and Annie has appeared multiple times on Portlandia.
