St. Vincent joined Fiona Apple onstage at Trans-Pecos Fest (watch)

There have been encouraging signs of activity from Fiona Apple this summer; she played a rare festival set at California’s Ohana Festival where she performed “Container,” the theme from Showtime’s The Affair, live for the first time, along with some covers, her own material, and a pretty impressive onstage cartwheel. She also joined Eddie Vedder and Glen Hansard for a cover of “Rockin’ in the Free World.” On Saturday (9/30), Fiona returned to the stage at Marfa, TX festival Trans-Pecos Fest. Like her Ohana set, Fiona’s Trans-Pecos set included a mix of covers and her original material; it also included a very special guest. Fiona brought out St. Vincent‘s Annie Clark for a few songs, including “Pale September,” “First Taste,” and The Brains’ “Money Changes Everything.” Watch videos of this dream collaboration below.

St Vincent releases her new album Masseduction on October 13, and her tour in support of it kicks off with a Red Bull Music Academy Show. She’ll be in NYC for two shows in December at Kings Theatre; 12/2 is sold out, but tickets are on sale for 12/3.

No word on a new album or tour dates from Fiona Apple, whose last album was 2012’s The Idler Wheel….
