Fred Armisen has been busy indie-fying the late night world with his stint as bandleader of Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ 8G Band, and when he took some time off last night (8/11) the show didn’t miss a beat. Fresh off a huge Celebrate Brooklyn show, St. Vincent filled in as bandleader (as was announced) for the band which included Marnie Stern, who often sits in with the band. The musical guest for the evening was Strand of Oaks, who played “Shut In” off his new full-band rock-oriented album, Heal. Unfortunately though, J Mascis who has guested with Meyers’ house band before and is on Strand of Oaks’ new album, did not show up for this one. Below, check out the full episode of “Late Night” of Annie doing her thing, as well as Strand of Oaks’ performance.

Strand of Oaks is currently on tour with Christopher Denny and as previously mentioned, they’ll hit NYC on Rough Trade on September 15. Tickets for that show are still available.

St. Vincent will be continuing her reign as bandleader tonight, so look out for that. Videos from last night, below…
