Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks played a couple shows this week: Chicago on Wednesday (1/23) and the NYC's Brooklyn Steel on Friday (1/25). At Friday's show, Stephen didn't play anything of his upcoming "electronic" solo album, but there were lots of Jicks cuts, including "Shiggy," "Bike Lane," and "Middle America" off last year's Sparkle Hard, plus Yul Brynner ode "Jo Jo's Jacket," "Witch Mountain Bridge," two Pavement songs Brighten the Corners ("Starlings of the Slipstream" and "And Then [The Hexx]"), and more. Malkmus' keyboard-heavy Groove Denied is out March 15, and he's got solo shows coming up in May.
