Steve Albini, Kelley Deal & Fred Armisen played a song for Lil BUB (watch)

The grand finale of last weekend’s Catsbury Park Cat Convention (which you can see more from HERE) was Lil BUB’s Big SHOW, a rare live version of internet famous feline Lil BUB‘s talk show, with ticket proceeds going to homeless pets. If the idea of a cat hosting a live talk show sounds ridiculous to you, you’re not alone, but Lil BUB and her “dude” Mike Bridavsky lean into and embrace the absurdity inherent in the concept, and the results are touching and often hilarious. It helps that they have guests who are happy to play along; Sunday night’s show featured a couple of old friends of BUB’s, Steve Albini (previously seen on episode 3) and The Breeders’ Kelley Deal (previously seen on episode 4), as well as Fred Armisen and Ozzy Osbourne bassist Blasko).

At 1:09:11 of the show’s livestream (which you can watch below), BUB announces that she’s bored and asks for her guests to play her a song. Blasko appears in the audience, and joins Steve on guitar, Fred on drums, and Kelley on vocals (on instruments that appear by “magic”) for a performance of a song Kelley says is called “Cartoon Heart.”

Earlier in the show, BUB shows a video of she, her “dude,” and Steve Albini going for a ride in Asbury Park in Steve’s PT Cruiser, to the very NJ-appropriate soundtrack of Bruce Springsteen. Watch that below as well, and check out pictures from Lil BUB’s Big SHOW in the gallery above.
