Stiff Little Fingers released new LP, touring w/ Offspring & Bad Religion, playing NYC/NJ headlining shows (dates, LP stream)

Stiff Little Fingers, the long-running Irish punkers, will be touring in support of the recently-released No Going Back in late summer. Along with a string of dates packaging the group with the Offspring and Bad Religion, Stiff Little Fingers will also play Riot Fest Chicago and Denver. The band hits NYC on September 20 at Irving Plaza as stand-alone headliners. They’ll also play NJ’s Stone Pony the day before (9/19) Tickets go on sale Friday (6/20) at noon, with a Live Nation and Music Geeks presale for Irving Plaza happening now (password: MUSICGEEKS).
No Going Back, the band’s tenth, finds lone-constant Jake Burns in fine voice, using his gravelly rasp to great effect. It’s a more mature, power-pop direction than the group’s biting early material. Still, Bruce and company know how to build a song, setting engaging lyrics within strong, slightly twangy hooks. The record was shepherded into existence by a crowd-funded effort on PledgeMusic and you can stream it via Rdio and check out a few songs in this post.
