stream Balun's new song "Teletransporte"

Brooklyn-via-Puerto Rico quartet Balún have an upcoming album, Prisma Tropical, and we’ve got the premiere of their second single off it, “Teletransporte.”

Their first single off the LP, “La Nueva Ciudad,” had heavy dembow influences, but this one moves away from their island vibes, with eerie strings creating a darker sound than their earlier work. In a press release, they gave more insight into the influences for the track:

Conceived as vehicle to bring grime into the pop world, Negrón’s Björk inspired strings and Olivares’ robotic percussion succeed in transforming a rather sparse arrangement into a cinematic and engrossing journey through another dimension. Teletransporte like La Nueva Ciudad before it stakes out new sonic territory, but the end result is unmistakably Balún.

Listen to it below. The album will be out at some point this year via Good Child Music.

Balún will be in Austin soon for SXSW. They’ve got a show on March 15 at The Iron Bear, and they’re playing a Remezcla showcase on March 16 at Karma Lounge with BIA, Ela Minus, and more.
