Bat for Lashes' new album The Bride was inspired by I Do, a short film Natasha Khan made, following the story a woman whose fiancé has been killed in a crash on the way to the church for their wedding, who then flees the scene and takes the honeymoon trip alone...which leads to romantic, alien territory. You don't have to follow the plot to become immersed in the emotions -- Khan's smoky voice and ghostly production get you most of the way there. The album's out July 1 but you can listen to the whole thing via NPR, below.

BFL played much of the new record at a Brooklyn release show earlier this month. No new North American tour dates have been announced. Yet. Stay tuned.
