stream Beach Slang's cover of The Church's "Under The Milky Way" from Alzheimer's benefit comp

As mentioned, new benefit compilation The Longest Day – A Benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association comes out digitally this Friday (6/19) via Mon Amie Records (and physically on October 1) with songs by New Order, Moby, Anna Calvi, TR/ST, Algiers, Daniel Avery, Beach Slang, Sad13 (Sadie from Speedy Ortiz), Cold Specks, The Wolfmanhattan Project (Kid Congo Powers, Mick Collins and Bob Bert), Hayden Thorpe (Wild Beasts) + Jon Hopkins, and more. You can pre-order it here.

We’re premiering Beach Slang‘s cover of The Church‘s “Under The Milky Way,” which is a sweet, jangly song that’s right up Beach Slang’s alley. They stay pretty faithful to the original but make it a little grungier and a little more modern — if you like their covers mixtapes, you’ll like this too. Listen below.

Meanwhile, Beach Slang’s James Alex will be doing a solo acoustic livestreamed show on July 11 at 5 PM ET at StageIt. You need tickets, and a portion of proceeds will go to Black Lives Matter. James says he’ll be playing a new song he wrote about Brian Wilson called “Brian Don’t Surf,” and the show itself is called “Debt Sounds.” More info below.
