Boris Earthquaker

stream Boris' 4-way split with Crypt City, Relaxer & Lisa Bella Donna

Genre-defying Japanese rock legends Boris are gearing up to release the new album LφVE & EVφL on Third Man and then tour North America later this year, but first they’re going on a short Japan tour this month with Relaxer, Crypt City and Lisa Bella Donna and releasing a four-way split with them. The physical splits will only be available on the tour, but we’re premiering the digital stream in this post.

Both the tour and split are in partnership with effects pedals company EarthQuaker Devices, and though the Boris and Crypt City songs were previously released in other forms, they were re-recorded using all EarthQuaker Devices pedals for this split. The Boris song is “Farewell,” which the band already released a few different versions of, and this one is worth hearing as well. It was also a cool song to pick — the song initially came out on 2005’s Pink, and its heavy shoegazy vibes are even more in style now than they were back then.

The other songs on the split are also all worth hearing, and all pretty different. Lisa Bella Donna’s explores ambient electronic pop, Crypt City’s dives into heavy, motorik psychedelic rock, and Relaxer offers up Sabbathy stoner doom. Listen to the whole thing below.
