Connecticut’s Boundaries are releasing the My Body In Bloom EP this Friday (2/22) via Unbeaten Records (pre-order), and we’re premiering a full stream of the EP ahead of its release. “This record is an exhausting attempt at proving to ourselves and everyone else that we exist,” says vocalist Matt McDougal. “That we exist as song writers with passion, influence, and creativity. That we are full of doubt and damage. We tried so hard to create something that is wholly ours, wholly us, to wear everything about us as a band on our sleeves.”

My Body In Bloom is heavy as all hell, and it proves that Boundaries are not a band who can be easily pigeonholed. They’ve got everything from bone-crushing metalcore chugs to tech-y leads to sludgier and more atmospheric parts, and beyond. McDougal’s clearly got a ton of passion in his voice, and can go from an angry bark to a more pained, emotional scream. They work in some cleaner, more melodic vocals too, and end up covering a lot of ground over the course of these six songs. If you dig any type of hardcore or metal, this one is worth a spin. Boundaries also have upcoming tour dates, including a release show in their home state this Friday and a Brooklyn show on April 4 at The Kingsland with Distinguisher, Church Tongue, Skyburial, Somewhere To Call Home, and one more band TBA (tickets). They also play the Saturday (May 18) of Black N’ Blue Bowl at Brooklyn Bazaar — the same day as Killing Time, Outburst, Wisdom In Chains, Death Before Dishonor, and more (tickets).
