The Budos Band are releasing their new album V on April 12 via Daptone (pre-order). We already posted the singles "Arcane Rambler" and "Veil of Shadows," and we're now premiering the final pre-release single, "Maelstrom." Guitar player/producer Tom Brenneck said that on V they aimed to combine the heavier rock sounds of 2014's Burnt Offering with the jazz-funk sounds of their first three albums, and going by the singles, it sounds like they achieved just that. "Maelstrom" is a dose of horn-fueled psychedelic rock that can really take you there. It's a hypnotic and accessible song, even if you don't normally listen to instrumental music. Check it out below.

As mentioned, Budos Band are also touring, beginning with two release shows in their NYC hometown this weekend: Friday (4/5) at Bowery Ballroom (sold out) and Saturday (4/6) at Music Hall of Williamsburg (tickets). Both shows will be opened by Menahan Street Band and Holy Hive. Staten Island's Flagship Brewery will also have a custom beer in honor of the new album at the NYC shows. All dates are listed below.

Budos Band will also host a scavenger hunt in each city of their tour, and "prizes include signed & limited edition merch items, free concert tickets & the location of the bar/brewery where the band will be hanging out before the show." The participating record stores in NYC are Rough Trade and Turntable Lab. More info on the scavenger hunt here.
