Burn's self-titled 1990 debut EP on Revelation Records helped set the tone for '90s post-hardcore and they remain as influential as ever. They came from NYHC but didn't really sound like most NYHC bands. In some ways, it's safe to say they were ahead of their time, as that EP sort of predicted a sound that would rise in popularity by the early 2000s. Burn, who had broken up in 1992, must have noticed that sound picking up momentum, because they reunited in 2001 and released their first new EP since their debut, Cleanse, on Equal Vision. The following year, Revelation gave a long-awaited release to the band's 1992 EP, Last Great Sea, which had been shelved when Burn broke up.

Burn returned once again last year with the ...From the Ashes EP on Bridge 9, and now they're set to release their first-ever full-length album, Do or Die. If you're unfamiliar with Burn, you can get an idea of how impactful their sound has been by looking at which musicians have been collaborating with them. Various Burn reunion lineups have included members of Glassjaw, and Do or Die was produced by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou, while Converge vocalist J Bannon is releasing the album on his Deathwish label. We're premiering the album's title track, which has extra crisp production from Kurt Ballou. If you dig Converge or Kurt's work with Trap Them, you really need to hear the chugging metallic hardcore of "Do or Die." It's a real ripper, and it hearkens right back to the style of their debut. Listen below.

Do or Die drops on September 8 via Deathwish. Pre-order it here.
