Los Angeles musician and songwriter Claire George released her debut solo EP, Bodies of Water, last year via Cascine, and now she's back with a new single, "Alone, Together," her first since the EP came out. We're premiering two versions of that single today, the original heart-rending, melancholy ballad that tempers piano with moody atmospherics, and an alternate dance version, a collaboration with Josh Burgess of Yumi Zouma.

About the song, Claire says:

"Alone, Together" covers the different seasons in the lifecycle of a failed relationship. The phrase "alone together" shifts meaning over the course of the song, tipping the scale from an expression of obsession and passion to one of hollowness and defeat.

I started playing this song at shows as a piano ballad over a year ago, and earlier this year Josh from Yumi Zouma approached me about recording the song together. In our recording session, the song began to take on a different energy than that of the ballad I'd originally written, and I thought it would be interesting to create a duality not only within the song, but by releasing two versions of the song to express the two meanings of the phrase.

Claire is doing some touring this fall, making stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, San Diego, and Brooklyn. The Brooklyn show happens at Elsewhere Zone One on September 25, and it's a co-headlining show with Moon Diagrams (aka Moses Archuleta of Deerhunter) and opener Softee. Tickets are on sale now.
