stream Eric Slick's (Dr. Dog) new song, see him in NYC with Cassandra Jenkins

Dr. Dog drummer (and Lithuania member) Eric Slick released his solo album Palisades, and toured with (and covered) Sinkane last year, and he’s staying active this year too. He wrote a new break up song, “Hesitation,” for Amazon’s “Love Me Not” Valentine’s Day playlist that will be out on February 9. Eric tells us, “This song is my first foray into writing about a break up. It’s a topic I wanted to avoid for a long time. What a cliché thing to write about! Sometimes you have to write what you feel. It may be harder to do, but the truth will set you free. Another cliché!” The song premieres below.

Eric also plays a one-off at NYC’s Mercury Lounge TONIGHT (1/18) with Cassandra Jenkins. That’s a pretty cool double bill, and tickets are still available.

In addition to Amazon’s “Love Me Not” playlist, there’s a “Love Me” playlist, and “each playlist offers original songs and covers from artists of various genres to help satisfy the lovers and the haters this Valentine’s Day.” The “Love Me” playlist includes a new Dan Auerbach song, Common Holly covering Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin Bout You,” John Prine covering Johnny Cash’s “The Ways of a Woman in Love,” and more. “Love Me Not” features Annie Lennox’s “No More I Love You’s,” of Montreal covering Molly Drake’s “Love Isn’t A Right,” a new Jay Som song, and more. Stay tuned for the playlists, and listen to last year’s here.
