stream Flogging Molly's "Welcome to Adamstown" off new album 'Life Is Good'

After The Pogues, there’s arguably no Celtic punk band with as much impact and influence as Flogging Molly. They’ve put out at least a few classics of the genre, and their live show remains not just a Guinness-fueled good time, but also precise and powerful. So it’s good news that they’re finally set to release their sixth album — the followup to 2011’s Speed of Darkness — this year. It’s called Life Is Good, and it comes out on June 2 via Vanguard (pre-order on iTunes or Amazon). It includes their 2016 single “The Hand of John L. Sullivan,” as well as the new song “Welcome to Adamstown,” which premieres in this post.

The song tells the story of Adamstown, a community that had been planned for west of Dublin, but was forced to come to a halt after Dublin was hit with a recession, and now remains only partially completed. “It had a huge negative connotation to it,” frontman Dave King tells us. “But now it’s starting to turn again, people are starting to move there, businesses are starting to open, and there is hope.” King further describes the song as “West Dublin meets East LA.” Listen below.

As mentioned, Flogging Molly are touring with The White Buffalo this year, and hitting NYC on May 23 & 24 at Irving Plaza. Those shows (and several others) also have Dylan Walshe opening. Tickets are still available. All dates, including Oakland tonight (5/4), are listed below.
