stream Jason Lytle, Little Wings, and Kramies' split single

Grandaddy frontman Jason Lytle teamed with two of his past collaborators, Little Wings (aka Kyle Field) and Kramies (aka Kramies Windt), for a three-way split 3ingle that comes out this Friday (11/16) (pre-order). The premise is that each musician recorded a new song “with just one acoustic instrument, a voice, one microphone and no studio tricks,” and the result is a gorgeously lo-fi new song from each of them. Jason’s is a piano-based bedroom pop ballad, while the other two took a slightly folkier route. Here’s what each musician had to say about the project:

Jason Lytle: I like Kramies and Kyle more than I like the version of me who wrote this song a few years back at a sad time when I was stranded in a damp house in Portland Oregon. I try to associate myself with good people and places as much as I can.

Little Wings: I’ve been up and down and we all have, this is a song to remind you not to end it all, we all know we will go in time. Lytle and Kramies are exciting companions for this excursion and I’m so glad to be along.

Kramies: I feel very lucky to have this experience with these guys. Working with Jason on my new EP and doing shows with Kyle was already a giant highlight to my year, but when this opportunity came to share musical space on a split-release with jason and Kyle, I felt like the luckiest guy in the world. Both their songs are beautiful examples of how talented and emotional creative they are. I’m very proud of ‘3ingle’ and the concept of simplicity and the honesty it creates.

A stream of all three songs premieres below.

Jason previously collaborated with Kyle Field when he produced the sole 2000 album by the band Rodriguez, which counted both Kyle and M. Ward as members. Jason has also produced a handful of Kramies’ releases, including his new Of All The Places Been & Everything The End EP which he co-produced with Guided by Voices collaborator Todd Tobias. You can stream that EP below too.
