Joan As Police Woman, the current main focus of the prolific Joan Wasser (The Dambuilders, Antony & the Johnsons, etc), has teamed with Cuddle Magic’s Benjamin Lazar Davis for the collaborative album, Let It Be You, which drops this Friday (10/21) via Reveal Records/BFD/Red Distribution (pre-order). The album’s release is prefaced by two videos starring Fred Armisen, and we’re now premiering a full stream of the album. The whole thing is a nice dose of arty, singer/songwriter-y pop, and Joan’s voice sounds fantastic here. Both her and Ben tell us a bit about the album:

BLD: “Working with Joan is so easy and I’m so happy with the results. We were super inspired by Pygmy music from the Central African Republic for this record. I’m so excited to release this into the world!”

JAPW: “I agree. This album concentrates the best of what Ben and I have to offer into compact action packed tunes. We’re thrilled to play it live with drum hero Ian Chang and guitar idol Ryan Dugre.”

Joan and Ben are celebrating the album with a release show on Wednesday, October 26 at Good Room, opening for Ben’s band Cuddle Magic. Norwegian Arms are on the bill too, and tickets are on sale. Joan also plays one of the final Manhattan Inn shows.

After that, Joan and Ben will tour Europe together. All dates are listed below.
