As mentioned, Movielife/I Am the Avalanche frontman Vinnie Caruana is releasing his first solo album, Survivor's Guilt, on May 27 via Equal Vision/Big Scary Monsters (pre-order US or Europe). It's a full-band album recorded with his I Am the Avalanche bandmates Kellen Robson and Brett ‘The Ratt’ Romnes, with some contributions by RX Bandits/Sound of Animals Fighting’ Steve Choi (who Vinnie also played with in Peace’d Out).

We're premiering the album's title track, and here's what Vinnie tells us about it:

I named the whole record after a quote from the second verse of this song. I sometimes become fixated on those who have gone before us and am constantly questioning if I'm making the most and best of life. It could all be over tomorrow or 50 years from now. I feel lucky to be here no matter how fucked life can get.

It's certainly a softer song than the stuff Vinnie does in IATA and The Movielife, with acoustic guitars and some reverby atmosphere in the background, but his vocals have the same passion he has with the louder bands. If you've been a fan of Vinnie's stuff in the past, this should hit the spot. Listen:

Vinnie is also going on a full band tour, and he’ll be joined by Steve Choi and Brett Romnes, plus his Movielife bandmate Brandon Reilly. Brandon is opening the tour with an acoustic set of songs from his other band, Nightmare of You. The tour hits NYC on June 8 at Saint Vitus, and tickets for that show are still available.
