LANA is one of a few projects of Sara Storm (who also goes by the monikers Nail Club and Latex Cop), and it's named for Lana Tisdel, who was dating Brandon Teena at the time of Brandon's 1993 rape and murder by two of Lana's friends who wanted to prove that Brandon -- who identified as male -- was assigned female at birth. (Hilary Swank won an Oscar for her portrayal of Brandon in 1999's Boys Don't Cry.) Storm uses real-life audio clips from documentation of the event, and splices it together with dark, distorted synthpunk that's not unlike Suicide or The Normal. The result is a six-song, self-titled album which is basically just one 25-minute track that should only be listened to start to finish. It officially comes out on Friday (3/20) via Modern Tapes (pre-order), but we're premiering a stream of the full thing right here:
