Self Defense Family at Acheron in June (more by Carly Hoskins)
Self Defense Family

Have we mentioned that Patrick Kindlon is prolific? It was only three weeks ago that we posted a stream of his band Drug Church's new album, and in a week from today his band Self Defense Family will release the new When The Barn Caves In EP on Iron Pier (pre-order). That's at least the third SDF release of the year, including a full length and collaborative EP with Touche Amore.

Like most of his work lately, it's post-hardcore with a big emphasis on "post." Sticking to genre formulas is pretty much the last thing it seems like Self Defense Family would ever do, with vocals that sound like the kind of speaking you do after your voice is shot from screaming for hours and music that's slow and atmospheric without lacking power. Check it out for yourself, the full EP stream premieres below.

Self Defense Family's only upcoming tour dates are in California (with Touche Amore singer Jeremy Bolm's other band Hesitation Wounds and the great new band Super Unison) but Drug Church's tour with Cruel Hand and Child Abuse will hit NYC in January.

Self Defense Family -- 2015 Tour Dates

December 19 San Diego, CA @ The Hideout w/ Hesitation Wounds
