Winnipeg Folk Festival At Home

Like so many other festivals, Winnipeg Folk Festival had to cancel their 2020 edition due to the coronavirus pandemic. To make up for it, they announced the festivities would be going online. A free livestream, “Winnipeg Folk Fest At Home,” will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2020, beginning at 8 PM EST (7 PM CST).

Throughout the evening, viewers can catch videos of past performances from the festival’s mainstage from over the years, including sets from A Tribe Called Red, Arlo Guthrie, Brandi Carlile, City and Colour, Courtney Barnett, Jason Isbell, John K Samson and the Winter Wheat, and Sheryl Crow, among others. In addition, the festival will also stream new performances from Waxahatchee, Kurt Vile and the Sadies, Steve Gunn, and more. See the full lineup below.

“The cancellation of our festival was heartbreaking for us and so many in our community, so we wanted to create an opportunity to commemorate the festival weekend and celebrate from the comfort and safety of our homes and yards,” executive director Lynne Skromeda said. “It’s also a great chance for those who’ve never been to the Winnipeg Folk Fest to have a taste of our unique festival experience and virtually transport them to Birds Hill Provincial Park from wherever they may be.”

You can stream the event through the festival’s Facebook page or their YouTube channel.
