As mentioned, '80s/'90s-era members Blaine Cook and Alex Sibbald of Seattle crossover thrashers The Accüsed have an active version of the band called The Accüsed AD and they're releasing a new album that was produced by Seattle grunge legend Jack Endino and mastered by Pig Destroyer's Scott Hull. It's called The Ghoul In The Mirror and it comes out this Friday (5/10) via Blackhouse Records (pre-order), and we're premiering a stream of the whole thing. Blaine Cook's voice sounds just about as gritty and evil as it did on The Accüsed's '80s classics, and the beefed-up guitars sound pretty great here too. "The Ghoul In The Mirror embraces the splatterock / anything goes approach that we have always had towards making our music," Blaine tells us. "It’s not genre-specific, we just tap into all the art (including films and imagery) that has influenced us over the past 35 years." It's not a million miles away from what The Accüsed were doing three decades ago, but that's not a bad thing. If you dig anything from classic '80s thrash to newer bands like Iron Reagan (whose Tony Foresta said "Blaine is and was, in my opinion, the best metal/punk singer of all time, and is straight up irreplaceable"), you're probably gonna like this too. Stream it below.
